FAQ › Cost and insurance
Pricing for The Clear Course, what insurance covers, how prescriptions are billed, HSA and FSA receipts, and what labs cost.
TL;DR
TGIC bills two things separately: the membership (called The Clear Course) and your prescriptions. Membership is cash-pay — that's what covers the dermatologist, the iPledge concierge, the dashboard, and ongoing access to messaging and refills. Prescriptions run through your insurance at the partner pharmacy.
The split matters because acne prescriptions are often $0 with insurance. Isotretinoin (Accutane), spironolactone, tretinoin, and birth control are all common acne prescriptions covered by most plans. The pharmacy runs the claim, applies your benefits, and quotes you the final price before you commit. Free Rx shipping is included every month.
The Clear Course is the membership. It comes in three plans, all billed once up front for the term you pick:
Accutane care uses the same three plan terms with prices that reflect the iPledge concierge work, monthly check-ins, and lab coordination built into every Accutane case:
Two things are billed separately: prescriptions and lab work.
The partner pharmacy ships your medication and bills your insurance directly. The pharmacy quotes the final cash price or copay before shipping. Free Rx shipping is included every month. Most insured patients have low or $0 copays; the few who don't can request a generic substitution or a cash-price comparison through the dashboard.
Accutane requires periodic liver function and lipid monitoring. These labs are ordered by your dermatologist and billed separately — either through your insurance, through a partner lab kit, or through a local draw site. Cost depends on the lab and your coverage.
The Clear Course is HSA- and FSA-eligible. TGIC does not process HSA or FSA cards directly — you pay with a regular card, and TGIC provides a submit-ready receipt for your HSA/FSA administrator. The Clear Course membership, dermatologist visits, prescription co-pays, and lab work all qualify as eligible medical expenses under IRS rules for acne treatment.
The receipt includes the patient name, dates of service, line-item charges, and TGIC's tax ID — everything a typical HSA/FSA administrator asks for.
Cancel directly from your dashboard — click “Manage billing or cancel” to open your secure billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current term, so you keep every month you've paid for. There are no retention calls and no cancel-by-phone-only requirement.
Each plan has a minimum commitment matching its term: 3 months (Month to Month), 4 months (The Full Course), or 12 months (Year of Clear). After the minimum, no lock-in. Your case file and message history stay accessible in your dashboard after cancellation.
Consultation fees are non-refundable. Prescription medications cannot be returned or refunded under federal regulations, even if unused. In limited situations such as prescription delays or administrative errors, partial or full refunds may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
